How irresistible is a bowl of glistening, ruby-red cherries?! This is one fruit that instantly cheers me up! Plump , ripe, sweet – tart this nature’s snack sized candy is so appealing to all. Fabulous eaten on its own, it also lends itself beautifully to savoury dishes as well as desserts. Lets look at some of my favourites, shall we?
Frozen yogurts are so fabulous. Creamy and sweet, they make for a perfect low-calorie, healthy dessert. Let the delicious, in-season fruit do all the talking. Add more fruit to intensify the flavour, add more yogurt to enhance the smoothness. I strongly recommend Greek yogurt or thick hung yogurt to get a really creamy texture. This Frozen Cherry Yogurt is truly a wonderful refreshing treat.
After chocolate, my most favourite dessert’s got to be a fruit pie. As much as I love a classic apple pie, a good Cherry Pie is something I crave for. Sweet sour juicy filling encased in a buttery flaky crust. Its a dream combined with some whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
This vegan Cherry Lemon Cheesecake is really a fabulous delectable dessert, so rich and velvety. Making a vegan cheesecake was a revelation to me…Cashew nuts are what make this filling ridiculously delicious, silky, creamy and luscious. A little bit of lemon juice gives the cheesecake its characteristic tang. And my gosh, those juicy cherries burst in your mouth with every bite..so so yummmmmm!!
An oldie but a goldie, this Upside Down Cherry Cake is an absolute delight to make and enjoy with a cup of tea. Made with whole-wheat flour and almond meal, its got a tender moist crumb. Almonds add a lovely nuttiness and I just love how the cherries release their delicious sweet tart juice into the cake, making it so scrumptious!
Here we have the classic pairing of chocolate and cherries in this Eggless Chocolate Cherry Cake. Moist, fudgy, with juicy chunks of cherries in every bite..this cake is divine! The sweet sour cherries give this cake such a wonderful bright flavour that just gets better the next day as the chocolate cake absorbs all the lovely juices. So good that you won’t even notice its made with whole-wheat flour!
These healthy 4 ingredient Easy Cherry Yogurt Popsicles make for a wonderful snack, dessert and I have no qualms serving them for breakfast either! Creamy, delicious, and perfect for a hot summer day – go ahead make some. Add any other fruit if you don’t like cherries. Or just mix them up. Truly a summer special!
